Anime-Manga Differences Spoiler
Plot and Content Changes
- Sasuke catching a drifting leaf and crushing it mid-monologue, used as a visual cue for his break from Konohagakure, is an anime-original addition.
- Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki recalls becoming a new kind of Hokage in response to Sasuke's earlier question in the manga. The anime cuts that recollection. (Manga: chapter 694, page 6)
- Naruto and Sasuke both flash back to past conversations with Itachi during this moment in the manga. The anime either drops these flashbacks or repositions them to a different point in the discussion. (Manga: chapter 694, pages 7-9; chapter 694, page 11)
- As Naruto talks about learning everything from the people who came before him, a cast of past characters appears behind him in the manga. The anime leaves the background empty. (Manga: chapter 694, page 12)
- Their fight opens on top of Hashirama's statue with a clash of arms in the manga. The anime restages this: both run down the statues and meet mid-lake, intercut with their journey across the series. The whole exchange up until Naruto blocks Sasuke's Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique with a chakra arm is an anime-original addition. (Manga: chapter 694, page 17)
- That same Great Fireball Technique gets a significant power boost in the anime — it presses against Naruto's defence hard enough to crack the ground he's standing on.
- Naruto's mental callback to Sasuke saying that top-tier shinobi can understand each other when their fists meet is dropped from the anime. (Manga: chapter 696, page 1)
